Anyone up for a Book Club?

Okay, I have just finished the Physick Book of Deliverance Dane by Katherine Howe. She is a desendant from one of the witches that was hung in the infamous Salem Witch Trails. The book was interesting at the end and now I really like it, but it was a bit slower than what I am used to. Now on to the next book before I start the Marked series. The next book I am starting is The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong. Here is a synopsis....

The Summoning
Chloe Saunders sees dead people. Yes, like in the films. The problem is, in real life saying you see ghosts gets you a one-way ticket to the psych ward. And at 15, all Chloe wants to do is fit in at school and maybe get a boy to notice her. But when a particularly violent ghost haunts her, she gets noticed for all the wrong reasons. Her seemingly crazed behaviour earns her a trip to Lyle House, a centre for 'disturbed teens'. At first Chloe is determined to keep her head down. But then her room mate disappears after confessing she has a poltergeist, and some of the other patients also seem to be manifesting paranormal behaviour. Could that be a coincidence? Or is Lyle House not quite what it seems...? Chloe realizes that if she doesn't uncover the truth, she could be destined for a lifetime in a psychiatric hospital. Or could her fate be even worse...? Can she trust her fellow students, and does she dare reveal her dark secret?

Now doesn't that sound interesting? Are you are interested in joining me on this next adventure? If so, grab a book and start reading with me... Can't wait to get caught up in this one.

Craft/Gift Idea

Here is a recent gift I made for a friend. I bought some glasses and vinyl from the local Target. Then I used my cricut machine to cut the letters from the vinyl and carefully placed it on the glass. Then I tied ribbon at the top of the glasses to dress them up a little. Don't know if I would put these in the dishwasher though. I would recommend hand washing these to be safe. Happy crafting!

Flashback Friday - Family

Todays Flashback Friday shocked me to look at. In this picture are my 2 nephews, Ashley, my Dad and Maggie the monkey. It was taken in 2005. Doesn't seem like long ago but to see how the kids have changes is astonishing to me. All the kids have really gotten older, and maggie is much bigger now. However, Dad, you have not changed at all, except for the glasses. Enjoy your weekend.

Not your "cookie cutter" craft

I have been hesitant to put this craft on my blog because I had planned to make this for a friend for her birthday. Needless to say between company visiting us and back pain issues I wasn't able to get it done in time her, but had had finished this one for another friend the month prior.

Basically you take a cookie sheet, spray paint it whatever color you wish. Cover it with some trendy and cool scrapbook paper and add a small calender and handmade magnets that will match. When complete, just place magnets on the back and it's ready to be hung on the fridge as a memo board. You can individualize this anyway you want based on who you are giving it to. Hope you enjoy the idea.

Halloween 2009

I started Halloween by breaking traditions this year. Every year since Ashley was born, I have had some friends gather for chili before trick or treating. I decided that I am in the mood for breaking traditions, just to prove to myself that I could. I know, it's the rebel coming out in me I guess. So, we ate taco soup together as a family and then got dressed and headed out for a night of fun. Here are the pictures to prove it.

BTW, look for more "breaking traditions" updates. I am going through a "I need something different phase" so I am going to see how much fun and can have with "breaking traditions".

Flashback Friday (well Saturday)- Halloween 2005 - Katelyn's turn

Now it's Katelyn's turn. Her first Halloween she went as a Sunflower. See how cute? Maybe that's why I keep calling her my pocketful of sunshine lately. She was just going with the flow with her big sister. At the time, we lived in Starkville and all the frat houses would do a huge trick or treat on campus. The kids always enjoyed going on campus to trick or treat! It was a great time for everyone.

Happy Halloween everyone and be very careful tonight.

Flashback Friday - Halloween 2001

Here is Ashley (my little angel) on her first Halloween in 2001. She was just 10 months old. We went trick of treating, but since she couldn't eat most of the candy, guess who got to eat it instead? I am happy to say, that I no longer have snicker bars and milky way bars calling my name, however, potato chips is a totally different thing altogether.

Ashley has really grown up to be a beautiful young girl. One that I am so proud of. She is so mature for her age, it's like she is an adult trapped in a young girls body. Crazy huh? Anyway, tomorrow, I will feature Katelyn's first Halloween.

I am still working on Brian to go as a werewolf tomorrow night with us Vampires, but I don't think he is going to cave in.
